Walter Payton, nicknamed “Sweetness”, was a running back for the Chicago Bears from 1975 to 1987. He was drafted by the Bears with the fourth overall pick in the 1975 NFL Draft. Over his 13-season career, Payton amassed 16,726 rushing yards and 110 rushing touchdowns, setting numerous NFL records at the time.

He was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in 1977. Payton was also part of the Bears’ Super Bowl XX-winning team in 1985. He retired as the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, a record he held until 2002.

Walter Payton passed away on November 1, 1999 at the age of 45. He died from bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), a rare form of cancer. His death was widely mourned in the sports world, and his legacy continues through the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and his lasting impact on the Chicago Bears and NFL history.

Shipping and expedited manufacturing ($14.95+) (U.S. Only)

  • Orders using this option jump to the front of the manufacturing queue which can generally save a couple days (or more during busier times of the year).
  • It's highly recommended to use this option if you are ordering for a specific event or holiday.
  • Orders using this option generally arrive 2-3 days after being manufactured and shipped. (U.S. only)
