According to a Twitter account, for anyone not into sports, it appeared to be a white supremacist message.
“Embrace the hate” then, as the athletic director Chris Del Conte shared is to show a positive attitude towards criticism to make a breakthrough for an explosive season. Despite the backlash, the phrase may have aimed to inspire resilience and motivation in the face of criticism and rivalry.
The decision to move from the Big 12 to play in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) got them a lot of criticism and hate, so they decided to “embrace the hate” to play their final season in the Big 12.
