Not Now Kitten Daddy Is Gaslighting Himself Into Believing That His Team Might Not Be Terrible This Year Shirt is a humorous sports-fan meme shirt. Get to know more about its meaning below!
Not Now Kitten Daddy Is Gaslighting Himself Into Believing That His Team Might Not Be Terrible This Year Shirt Meaning
The phrase “Not now, kitten” is intentionally playful and exaggerated. “Daddy” refers to the person wearing the shirt, while “kitten” is a joking pet name for someone trying to get his attention. In other words, the wearer is humorously saying, “Don’t bother me right now—I’m busy thinking about my team.”
The main joke is “Daddy is gaslighting himself into believing that his team might not be terrible this year.” Here, “gaslighting himself” is used humorously rather than in its serious psychological sense. It means the fan is convincing himself to believe something he knows probably isn’t true—namely, that his favorite sports team might actually be good this season.
The shirt captures a very recognizable sports-fan experience: every new season brings hope, even when the team has been disappointing in previous seasons. A fan might look at new players, a new coach, preseason performances, or a few promising games and convince himself, “Maybe this is finally our year!” The joke is that deep down, he knows the team may still be terrible, but he desperately wants to believe otherwise.
So Not Now Kitten Daddy Is Gaslighting Himself Into Believing That His Team Might Not Be Terrible This Year Shirt is essentially saying: “Leave me alone. I’m currently convincing myself that my terrible team is going to be good this year.”
