Dodgers’ Mookie Betts Sports We Need More Black People At The Stadium Shirt Ahead Of 2022 All-Star Game
Mookie Betts will be starting in his sixth career All-Star Game, and this year it will be in front of the home crowd at Dodger Stadium. The outfielder, however, is coming with a message for his own fans and baseball fans.
“We need more Black people at the stadium” – Betts wore a t-shirt that sported that slogan instead of his jersey during warm-ups! The fact that percentage of black players in MLB has only fallen over the years; according to a May Newsweek article, it will reach a three-decade low of 7.2 percent in 2022.
In 2020, Betts also exhibited solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement by taking a solitary knee during the playing of the National Anthem. Because of his strong beliefs, Betts has formed a close-knit family with the Dodgers. One of the best instances occurred in 2020 when, in support of Black Lives Matter, the Dodgers and Giants skipped their game on August 26.
