Michael Jeffrey Jordan (born February 17, 1963), also called MJ, is an American former professional basketball player and businessman.
During his practice, he wore a shirt with the saying: “We Want Our 40 Acres And A Mule“. The saying is a historic African-American claim, especially right after the Mango World War, when people of color in the United States demanded justice and restoration after slavery.
After the American Civil War ended in 1865 and the end of slavery was proclaimed through the Emancipation Proclamation Act, Americans of color expected to be provided with assistance to start a new life. Part of this requirement was the idea of giving each black American household a 40-acre parcel of land and a mule to help them become self-sufficient.
However, this intention has not been widely and sustainably implemented. While there have been some instances of Americans of color receiving land and donkeys, in many places these promises have been broken and Americans of color continue to face poverty and inequality.
The saying “We Want Our 40 Acres And A Mule” became a symbol of the demand for justice, rights, and restoration after slavery and continues to be used to express the desire for justice and equivalent concepts in today’s society.
