Jorge Alfaro And Lfgsd Shirt
Padres catcher Jorge Alfaro speaks with home plate umpire Jeff Nelson before a baseball game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Friday, May 27, 2022, in San Diego.
After spending five years with the Rangers, Jorge Alfaro was traded to Philadelphia in the Cole Hamels deal of July 2015. Prior to the lockout, the Padres acquired him after another two years in Miami and another four years with the Phillies.
When Alfaro woke up on Friday morning to find his likeness and the unofficial, not-safe-for-work slogan he coined painted on the side of a building in Chula Vista, any concerns he had about how the San Diego community was accepting the 29-year-old Colombian — and there really weren’t much at all — were answered.
After Alfaro’s walk-off single on Tuesday and his subsequent “Let’s (expletive) go San Diego” postgame comments, Padre’s supporters created this. Duct tape was painted over the foul word by the artist.
“It was a longer stay in Philly,” said Alfaro, fittingly wearing a brown “LFGSD” shirt as he walked onto the field for early work. “It was longer in Miami. Right, when I came here I was thinking about it, how’s it going to be? It’s only been a couple of months and I just feel comfortable”
