The airstrike conducted by Israel on May 26 targeted a refugee camp in Rafah, resulting in significant casualties. Reports indicate that at least 45 people, including women and children, were killed, and 249 people were injured in the attack.
The camp was housing internally displaced Palestinians, and the strike triggered condemnation from various countries and international organizations. The incident has been described as a “heinous massacre,” drawing widespread condemnation for the loss of civilian lives and the destruction it caused.
Contrary to fierce opposition from European or Arab leaders, President Joe Biden has not yet publicly commented on recent developments in Gaza. White House spokesman John Kirby said the US would not have any policy changes at present.
