Donnie Iris Tribute 1943 2026 T Shirt Meaning
Donnie Iris was a beloved figure in Pittsburgh’s music scene. He first gained national recognition as a member of The Jaggerz, whose 1970 hit song “The Rapper” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. He later formed Donnie Iris and the Cruisers with keyboardist Mark Avsec. The band became well known for songs such as “Ah! Leah!,” “Love Is Like a Rock,” and “My Girl,” which helped establish Iris as a recognizable rock artist during the 1980s.
His passing came shortly after he announced his retirement from live performances on October 9, 2026, because of health issues. His final concert took place on September 28 in his hometown of Pittsburgh. Despite his illness, he performed for his fans one last time, making the concert an especially meaningful farewell.
