In a 2026 AFC Divisional Round playoff game, Bills QB Josh Allen threw a deep pass to Brandin Cooks in overtime.
Many fans and commentators believed Cooks made the catch, had control of the ball, and was down by contact (which normally ends the play).
However, officials ruled that he did not complete the “process of the catch” under the NFL’s catch rule, and instead credited a Denver Broncos defender with an interception — a call that ended Buffalo’s season.
Bills fans felt Cooks clearly had possession when he hit the ground and thus should have been ruled down by contact, especially since the ball was jarred loose after that point.

Shipping and expedited manufacturing ($14.95+) (U.S. Only)
- Orders using this option jump to the front of the manufacturing queue which can generally save a couple days (or more during busier times of the year).
