12 Reasons Why Thanksgiving Is The Best Holiday
Thanksgiving is food, football, and family. This can be considered as a short holiday for people to rest, relax and visit relatives. So it’s no wonder that Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday for many people. It has the joy of Christmas, minus the stress of decorating and gift-giving that comes with it.
No matter how you celebrate, Thanksgiving is the perfect way to start the holiday season. There are so many reasons to love Thanksgiving, here are 12 reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday.
Here’s Why Thanksgiving Is The Best Holiday
Thanksgiving converges many elements of a perfect holiday – you get off work, eat tasty food, be with family and friends, and you don’t even have to leave the house (that is, if your family is hosting). Every family has their own unique traditions but I’m sure everyone will agree with me on some of the reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday below.
The food is amazing
Why Thanksgiving is the best holiday? Of course, it is food! Besides being grateful, eating is an integral part of Thanksgiving. Turkeys, potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, pumpkin pie, and cornbread, are just some of the foods you’ll eat during Thanksgiving. On this day, you can eat as much as you want and no one is really judging you or stopping you because, in fact, they’re doing the same thing.
You get to be with family
One of the reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday is that you can be with your family. Whether you see your family every day or just a few times a year, Thanksgiving is the perfect time to reunite with loved ones and gather, of course, over a delicious meal.
This is a great holiday where you can really show how grateful you are and love all your friends… and you don’t have to buy them a gift to do it. Moreover, if you are away from home and can’t be with your family these days, then this is the perfect time to gather with friends and relieve homesickness.
No Pressure to Buy Gifts
A Thanksgiving gift is great, but it’s okay if you don’t have one. Unlike other holidays that focus on gift-giving, Thanksgiving is literally about being with your loved ones, eating, and giving thanks. Unless you’re organizing and have to buy all the food (maybe ask your guests to bring something), it’s a great time to stay home and gather the family. Also, most people wear comfortable clothes because you’re indoors and need to make room for the turkey, stuffings, side dishes you’re about to devour.
It’s the start of the holiday season
When Christmas and New Year arrive, you know the holiday season has come to an end, but with Thanksgiving, it’s just begun! Maybe you’ll feel sad when Thanksgiving is over, but then you’re reminded that Christmas and New Year are just around the corner.
Also, some people refuse to decorate for the holidays until the beginning of December, but they are wrong. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to start decorating the holiday with twinkling lights, pumpkins, wreaths, and mistletoe.
Thanksgiving is non-religious so anyone can participate
Christmas, and even Halloween, is rooted in religion so some people may hesitate to join in. As you celebrate Thanksgiving, you can invite your friends who are of different religions that you’re grateful for and offer them some turkey and stuffing. Although the Thanksgiving parade has elements of Christmas and the start of the holiday season, Thanksgiving is a time for everyone to come together.
The Thanksgiving Day Parade
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the most prominent events during Thanksgiving. In this parade, you can see hot air balloon versions of classic childhood cartoon characters like Doraemon and Hello Kitty to performances by famous musicians, Broadway casts, and bands. marching music from all over the country. Join the parade and you will surely have a memorable one.
National Dog Show
Animal lovers are sure to enjoy this American Kennel Club’s National Dog Show. You can learn about cute dogs and their talents. Seeing how many adorable and unique dogs are out there is super fun.
Leftovers will keep you full for days
Thanksgiving is too much food, so you don’t just get to eat this dinner once. It is almost impossible to run out of food and there are no leftovers. You can reheat all your food in the coming days and get creative with turkey burgers and cranberry sauce.
Remembering to Be Grateful
In our daily lives, we can easily take the little things for granted and sometimes forget to tell our loved ones how grateful we are to have them in our lives. So, on the occasion of Thanksgiving, let’s thank our family, our friends, all the people who matter in our lives and for all the blessings we’ve been given.
Everyone has their own unique traditions
Whether your family hosts games every Thanksgiving, prepares dinner or watches football together, every family has some kind of tradition that they continue every year. Besides watching the Macy’s parade and dog show, my family always sits down to watch the annual Thanksgiving movie. Even if you’ve seen something a hundred times, it still feels great to have something you do every year.
It’s not super commercialized
Right after Thanksgiving is Black Friday and it’s the start of the holiday shopping season, but Thanksgiving itself is a relatively non-commercial holiday. It’s really all about family, food and friends. It’s wonderful, isn’t it?
Those are the reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday. Do you agree with my views? I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with loved ones and a positive attitude. Before you get caught up in the Christmas and New Year’s craziness, make sure to really take care of Thanksgiving and it could turn out to be your favorite holiday. Remember to be thankful for all the big and small things you have in your life this holiday season.
